About the Book

This booklet explains why suffering exists on planet earth, which is a unique phenomenon hereon. Our consolation prize is that all earthlings are famous (but not allowed to know this.)

About the Author

Lewis Sheer Mancini, born in 1951, received His M.D. degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies in 1983. He acknowledges that without His beloved brother, Douglas’s telling Him about St. George’s, He would never have heard about it. He went on to do one year of psychiatrists’ training (internship) followed by one year of psychiatric residency training within the psychiatric practitioners’ training program, under the auspices of the State University of New York at Buffalo (S.U.N.Y.A.B.).Before that He studied bioengineering and electrical engineering/electronics at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. There He worked briefly within the Artificial Vision for the Blind Project using brain stimulation via electrodes that He surgically implanted on to the visual cortex of the brain of a cat. Other writings by this author are listed above. He was always a very good (but not a brilliant) student through many years of higher education, including 14 years of college (5 of which were medical school). Three of the 14 years were spent in the electroencephalography (EEG) technology program at Niagara County Community College (NCCC) in Sanborn, New York, where He was co-first in His class of 19. This program was offerred in connection with the department of neurology within the medical school at the State University of New York at Buffalo (S.U.N.Y.A.B.). Before college and medical school, He graduated third in His high school class of 40 at The Park School of Buffalo in Snyder, New York. (My high school girlfriend was first (valedictorian) in Our class.) However, He has always suffered from and been frustrated by severe learning disabilities. Some of these disabilities have been/are as simple as difficulty learning to tie shoelaces, difficulty learning to tie a men’s necktie, difficulty learning to ride a bicycle, difficulty learning to drive a car (my parents had to hire a private instructor to teach me), incredible difficulty with computers, cell phones, text messaging, other high-tech devices, athletic phobia/lack of interest in all sports (except swimming and running), i.e., ritualized warfare wherein men often or almost seem to be trying to hurt each other, etc. More generally, my learning disabilities can be dubbed gadgetaphobia, technophobia, practical-phobia and slight general infophobia (despite a high score on the general information subtest of the original Medical College Aptitude Test, MCAT). He was married between 1982 and 1985 (before becoming divorced) and, consequently, has a currently (2025) 41 year-old daughter. Since 1985, Mancini has been treated for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and bipolar (manic-depressive) disorder. He is only relatively mildly manic, that is hypomanic (and only mildly depressed) because, in comparison, He understands that some extremely manic people stay awake continuously for several days in a row before, they collapse in a state of exhaustion. He is lucky if He gets three hours of sleep (6 hours when effectively medicated via Quetiapine or Seroquel), 200 milligrams twice a day (b.i.d.) nightly and doesn’t feel tired the following day. A couple of my therapists have suggested that I might be schizoaffective, but since most people tell me my thoughts are logical and coherent, I doubt that those two people are correct. Plus: high scores on the New MCAT in quantitative, physics and biology, chemistry and physics problem-solving with scores ranging between the 97th and 99.9th percentiles. I have been told by three people whom I am close to that I often have pressure of speech, a cardinal manic feature. As You may have noticed, I coin quite a few new words or neologisms, which are another feature of mania or hypomania. In heaven, my technological and other learning disabilities will vanish, because I’ll have access to, that is, my mind-soul-spirit particle will be able to circulate through the non-learning-disabled brains and interact with the non-learning disabled MP/SP/SPs of many, many fellow earth-hell graduates. An afterthought: I changed my mind about “spirit.” It does exist, because it is the pure energy form of the mind, soul particle and can be quantified, measured and weighed. Related to and part of superstring theory is something called “supersymmetry” which posits that there are particle pairs consisting of two particles with the same mass but opposite spin. So, there may be a form of marriage in “paradise” or, synonymously, heaven, after all.
