About the Book
Looking for new adventures away from England, Janet Sinclair immigrates to Canada, leaving behind a loving mother, and a surly father. In the young, isolated aluminum town of Kitimat, Janet falls in love with Ron McCabe, a quiet Australian, who, after two years of isolation, and with $35,000 in his bank account, is ready to return to the family winery in northern Victoria State. Janet gladly accepts Ron’s invitation to join him and meet his family. Predictably, Janet’s father refuses her wedding invitation, but her mother accepts, and begins a flight that is to dramatically change her life. At the wedding, Ron’s mother introduces Elsie to Stuart Monahan, a widower of eight years, and love is in the air. Their anticipated marriage is contingent upon a spiteful William Sinclair granting Elsie a divorce, which he is reluctant to do. Meanwhile, Elsie is enjoying her first real job, and sense of independence working with affable Maggie Holmes, at the local post office. All things come to those who wait.
