Letters: To Stephen Jay Gould, January 21, 1994 Consciousness itself has begun a great feedback cycle with the nature of itself. Will it be sustained? If so, how will it be sustained? Should one rise in anger over the idolatry of the golden calf of our self centered materialistic culture born in the absence of the vision and morality of our spiritual law in the homes that teach the children of our land? Should we break our Sacred Tablets and lash out with vengence against our own people to purge the evil from the land? Should we look for an agressive leader of mighty men to be the champion of our will? Will the dynamics that converts the greed and selfishness of man be a man with blood on his hands or the blood shed by innocent man? Can love grow where the blood fell and make the tabernacle of all nature the heart of a man? Short Stories: From "The Rattlesnake Head" As Duane passed the frozen dog, the bird burst into the air with a pounding of its wings and arched up toward the head of the stream. Duane's gun muzzle came up quickly and smoothly and picked up the path of the fleeing quail. Foom! The gun sounded as it crossed the bird on the same path to the somewhere it was going. Its wings folded and it began its predetermined arc toward the earth, past the tall bays and juniper, by the Titi and Gallberry to the moist floor at the head of the Steephead Stream. Expositions: From "A Comment on Jerusalem" Most of humanity stands in reverent awe of Jerusalem. But it is not Jerusalem the place that holds what we need to find. It is the spirit of the suffering souls of humanity that have cried out to enlighten us amid a Holy Land of war and hatred that has made it sacred.

About the Book
"The Teacher" is a personal collection of original reflections, letters, short stories and expositions about life, spirituality and science. "Reflections" contains sixty nine creative writings of poetry, creative prose, and dialogue. They journey to the heart of the values of life. They speak about love, family, spirituality, schools, science, and the experiences of everyday life. "Letters" contains forty one letters written to scientists and editors of scientific magazines. They unfold from beginning to end as a journey of discussion about science, spirituality, the evolution of life, Natural Selection, and the nature of nature. They plead with the men of science and religion to find common ground that can amplify each others work and purpose. They call for new spiritual enlightenments that can embrace the new knowledge of science and the literary scholars. "Short Stories" contains sixteen stories, twelve of which describe true experiences that occurred in the life of the author. Four are fictional stories written to express a feeling or view, one being part of a larger work. "Expositions" contains five writings that reflect the author's view of subjects such as Jesus, Jerusalem and personal family.
About the Author
Duane Broxson is a native and resident of Milton in Santa Rosa County Florida. He attended post secondary school at Pensacola Junior College, Troy State College, and the University of West Florida. He has practiced Medical Technology and taught science in the secondary high school for many years. He qualified for Master Teacher under the Master Teacher Program of Florida Governor Bob Graham. He was nominated to the Who's Who of American Teachers in 1994. He was also an aviation ground school instructor at Peter Prince Airport and at Milton Community School in Milton, Florida. Currently he is a retired teacher of thirty five years and works part time as a Hematologist in a local hospital laboratory.
