About the Book
Prelude in Black and Green is the story of a Jewish, middle class family in Bucharest, Romania, in the 1930’s. It is a time of unrest and transition. Life is still enjoyable, but clouds gather at the horizon. Trapped in this changing landscape, the STEIN family and their relatives try to cope with the events and make judicious decisions for the future. But character clashes between the members of this group and different attitudes towards their situation, as well as unexpected occurrences often interfere with the smooth completion of their plans.
About the Author
ADA NICOLESCU was born in Bucharest, Romania, where she survived World War II and Stalin’s Communism. In 1961 she emigrated to Paris, France, and in October 1961 she arrived in New York. At present she is a psychiatrist in private practice in Manhattan.
