A true story depicting an hilarious catalogue of disasters which befall the indefatigable though accident-prone Ralph and his long-suffering girlfriend Amy with whom he is hopelessly infatuated.
The year is 1968 when Ralph sets out to win her heart. His attempts to impress range from buying a boat and taking her sea fishing to hitchhiking through Switzerland and Italy.
He persuades Amy that moving to a rural idyll in Wales would be marvellous but after having no luck acquiring a suitable cottage, Ralph tries to convince her that Australia would be a far better option. He emigrates on a two year assisted passage intending to find a job and a home before Amy joins him.
However he quickly becomes disillusioned with Australia and decides to travel north to the searing heat of the Tropics where he undertakes gruelling manual labour in the open cast iron ore mines for the remainder of his two-year stint in order to save for a farm in Wales.
But things don't go according to plan and Ralph finds himself back in England a year later desperately battling to save his relationship with Amy. Despite the alarming consequences, ultimately one of his dreams is destined to come true.
