Maximillion We got a little puppy Early one spring day. We had a big decision, For the selection was very great! We looked those puppies over, But not knowing who to pick, We crawled into the pen with them, And they climbed on us and licked. . . Twice a day, he goes to the barn with me When I go out to do the chores. He loves to tease the kittens, As they skid across the floor. Sometimes, he corners those babies And stands above their heads. Then they shrink down with tails “poofed” out, And they hiss and spit with dread. (On each page you will find two things that Max quite frankly hates! They fly outside in the summertime, at times around his face. Look very carefully, and you will see Max’s two annoying things. Each of them is a different color, and both of them have wings!)

About the Author
Cheryl Laplander has been an elementary teacher for the past thirty-one years. She has taught a variety of age groups, from third graders to eighth graders. Her love of German shepherds, her love of children, and her love of drawing all came together to create Maximillion. She was born in Bucyrus, Ohio, in l957, and graduated from Wynford Local School District. Later, she attended Grand Rapids Baptist College, which is currently Cornerstone University, and Calvin College, graduating with a B.A. and a B. S. respectively. She taught two years in Ohio, one year in Detroit, and twenty-eight years in Mid-Michigan, where she currently teaches and resides with her husband Steve and her daughter Erin. They all live in the country on a small "farm" with their two horses, three outdoor cats, and two big German shepherds. She has been a German shepherd lover since her childhood days when they first acquired a German shepherd puppy named Tippy. Since her marriage to her husband Steve, they have raised shepherds.
