About the Book
Bolingo has a secret. She and her husband, Bandal, have been married for six years and have been blessed with three children; even so, there is trouble in their relationship. Bolingo, the victim of masculine and marital abuse, is taking advantage of her husband—at the expense of her family. In this three-act play set in South Africa, Bolingo is in a fierce battle between her desires and her morals. With her husband now unemployed for two years and drowning in a financial abyss, Bolingo uses the hardship as a shield to orchestrate a scandal of monumental proportions. Tired of receiving handouts, Bolingo is ready to buck traditions and oppression and find the happiness she feels she deserves—even as her mother tells her she is nothing without a husband. As Bolingo moves from lover to lover, it is not long before her husband discovers her secret. Bolingo’s downfall is about to begin, but only time will tell if she learns it is better to stay with the devil she knows or embark on a new journey with an unknown angel.
