A gently shining aura, shaped coffin-like, formed closely around William Wimmur’s rigid, grimacing body. Mortimer the Magnificent Dragon sighed nonchalantly, “Oh well, another day, another demon.” Morty took a ring of running rainbow fire off one of his dainty, long fingers. He did a calliope version of one of his favorite tunes, “Find a Ring,” and slid the ring onto William’s left index finger. The flaming ring adjusted to fit William, as if it were an old possession.

About the Author

C. R. Bryan is fond of the wonderful worlds that may blossom only in the mind yet are so real that multitudes accept them for reality. He is author of Bump’s Circus, which is the prequel to the Vale of Unika. He is also a painter and musician living on the fringes of the Texas Hill Country, which is the setting for much of this novel. There are at least five more volumes in the series the Six Inversions of Purpose. As Mortimer the Magnificent Dragon likes to say, “Scrumptious!”
